| Unwanted hair falls into
two categories. The first is normally occurring hair
that we simply don’t want to deal with anymore, like
hair on our legs we’ve grown tired of shaving. The
second is hair growth caused by a health condition,
usually a hormonal imbalance, like the dark hairs around
the lips and chin of a post-menopausal woman.
Laser Hair Removal allows you to end the
constant cycle of shaving, waxing, and plucking. Our
Sciton Laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes
through the skin to the hair follicle, where it is
converted into heat. The hair follicle is treated and
the surrounding skin is left unharmed. The Sciton Laser
is famous for its skin cooling abilities, making it
possible for even darker skinned people to safely remove
unwanted hair.
How many treatments will you need to
achieve your desired result? Every hair on your body is
in one of three stages of its life cycle. The laser can
only target a hair follicle when it is actively growing,
so you need a foundation of three treatments, usually
six to eight weeks apart, for the laser to even have
“seen” every actively growing hair. With each treatment,
you will notice a reduction in hair density and
thickness, but to achieve your desired result you will
need at least five and often more treatment sessions.
For unwanted hair caused by hormonal
imbalance or certain medications, unless the condition
is corrected, the stimulus for new hair growth remains.
You may need occasional touch-up treatments to maintain
your results. Vaniqa, a prescription skin cream that
slows hair growth, can also be very helpful in
maintaining the results you achieve with the Sciton
Laser.
A word of advice – no laser can remove
white or gray hairs, so if you’re thinking about Laser
Hair Removal, don’t wait too long! |
